Joint working provides the pharmaceutical industry with numerous opportunities to work in partnership with the NHS or other healthcare providers to improve outcomes for patients. Education and learning initiatives are often key enablers for the required changes in behaviour that can deliver such improvements.

We have worked in close collaboration with a local NHS Trust diabetes team and our client to develop and deliver an e-learning programme relating to inpatient diabetes care. The module has been created so that it is precisely relevant to the needs of the staff who provide diabetes patient care throughout the Trust.

Overview

Whilst many pharmaceutical personnel readily acknowledge the importance of learning programmes when new pharmaceutical products are being launched, not everyone considers learning programmes as being essential during the early phases of the drug development cycle.

However, we believe that the appropriate deployment of learning programmes in the very early stage of a drug's development can enable collaboration between academia, healthcare professionals and industry, assist in preparing internal staff for entry into new therapy areas and support KOL communication activities.
